Information for Coaches
Criminal Records Check / DBS
All coaching volunteers will need to undergo a Criminal Records Check. To do this, sign in / sign up to the FA to get your FA Number (FAN) and email our Child Welfare Officer (childwelfarecvjfc@gmail.com) with your FAN, your date of birth and full address.
Please ensure you follow instructions to update your Criminal Records Check when asked. All coaches are required to have an up-to-date one.
Coaches Code of Conduct
Please can all coaches ensure they have read and agreed to abide by the FA Code of Conduct for Coaches. Please sign here when you have read it.
Training for Coaches
The club will refund the cost of any course - just email the treasurer for repayment.
- Those without the Level 1/Introduction to Coaching would ideally do Safeguarding: Safeguarding Children Course | The Boot Room (thefa.com). This is a 2h online course which will be mandatory by the end of the season.
- All teams need a couple of First Aiders: Introduction to First Aid in Football | The Boot Room (thefa.com) - also 2h online (included in the FA Introduction to Coaching course/Level 1).
- The Playmaker is a new, free, short, online course with the basics of coaching, first aid and safeguarding. It is a prerequisite to doing the Level 1 course, but is recommended for anyone coaching or helping out. Here's the link: BT Playmaker by England Football | The Football Association (thefa.com)
- The FA Introduction to Coaching course (formally Level 1). Introduction to Coaching Football | The Boot Room (thefa.com) includes the Safeguarding and First Aid courses so don't do them separately if you are going to do this one! It is a quite a commitment. Currently online.
Coaching Ratios
We are required by the FA to ensure we meet the following ratios of coaches (with DBS) to players, depending on age:
Under 5s to Under 8s 1:6
Under 9s to Under 12s 1:8
Under 13s to Under 16s 1:10
All age groups need one FA qualified First Aider present at every session
Please help each other out when needed, and feel free to get additional active parents on your squads DBS checked, just in case.
Kit for Coaches
The club provides coaches with shorts, a polo or T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. They can also have a training jacket (in the club's annual order before Christmas). Please contact the Coaches Manager (coachescvjfc@gmail.com) with your size (and whether you would prefer a polo or T shirt) if you need kit.
